Sending an urgent document in Paris: a practical guide
A contract to sign, a tender file, a passport, keys: how to get a document carried across Paris in under two hours, and the mistakes that make a job fail.
The urgent document remains the Paris courier’s original use case: an original deed, a handwritten signature, a set of keys, a passport to be dropped at a consulate before closing. None of it can be emailed, and none of it tolerates delay.
The ride itself rarely takes more than an hour. What makes an urgent document fail is almost never the transport — it is missing information.
The five minutes that decide the outcome
These fields are optional in the form; they are nonetheless what separates a successful job from a round trip billed twice.
- The exact address, with building, floor and entry code. “12 rue de Rivoli” is not enough in an office block.
- The name and phone number of the person handing over the item, and of the one receiving it. The courier calls before coming up.
- Access instructions: intercom, reception desk, keypad, concierge, site closing hours.
- What to do if the recipient is away — bring it back, or leave it at reception.
Pick the right size
The Document format covers up to 5 kg and 20 × 15 × 20 cm: an envelope, a file, a document wallet, a set of keys. Beyond that, switch to Parcel — a tender file in several binders passes five kilos quickly.
Booking a parcel as a document saves nothing: it sends a cyclist who will leave empty-handed, and the job has to be started again.
Track without phoning
As soon as you order, a tracking link arrives by email. It shows the current step, the courier’s name once assigned, and their position on a map. Forward the link as is to the recipient: they need no account and no app.
It is the most effective way to reassure a client or a colleague waiting on a document: send them the link rather than a message every ten minutes.
Keep proof
Depending on the network performing the job, delivery is confirmed by a signature or a photo, visible from the tracking page and stored with the job. For a contractual document, that proof is what counts in any later dispute.
And if the item must be handed to a named person only, write it in the delivery instructions: the courier will have it in front of them.
Something to send?
Enter both addresses: a firm price appears before you commit, and the job leaves straight away.

Four formats: Document up to 5 kg (20 × 15 × 20 cm), Parcel up to 30 kg (90 × 65 × 50 cm), Cargo up to 50 kg (100 × 90 × 50 cm) and Van, to be chosen between 70, 500 and 750 kg. The format decides the vehicle sent: beyond a document, it is no longer a bicycle but a scooter, a car or a van.
You decide when ordering what the courier should do: bring the parcel back to the pickup address, or leave it at a reception desk or with a neighbour. The courier calls the contact number provided before leaving; a return to sender is charged as a second job.
A tracking link is emailed to you as soon as you order. It shows the current step, the courier’s name once the job is assigned, and the position on a map — no account, no app to install. The link can be shared with the recipient.
Yes. Depending on the network performing the job, proof takes the form of a signature or a photo at delivery, visible from the tracking page and kept with the job.
